The Body Shop® difference: Our trade with the Juan Francisco Paz Silva Cooperative has provided vital income for over 200 small-scale peasant farmers and their families in the region of Achuapa in west Nicaragua. By cutting out the middlemen, these sesame farmers can sell their seed to the co-op for a fair price. Our trade has enabled farmers to improve their economic situation and standard of living. The Body Shop®: also pays an added premium, which the co-op has used to provide credit to farmers and training courses on organic farming techniques.

Organic camomile water

Soothes the skin. Is known for its calming benefits. Provides small-scale rural farmers with a fair price, resulting in the revitalization of the local economy and sense of community.

Our trade in camomile oil helps support small farmers. Norfolk Essential Oils (NEO), a cooperative of mainly small scale tenant farmers, provides some of the chamomile oil used in our treatments. Based in a rural area of Norfolk in England, the farmers were facing increasing difficulties earning a livelihood from traditional crops, until in 1997 they diversified into essential oil production. When you buy one of our camomile products, you help keep this going.

Sesame oil

Moisturizes and helps to soften the skin. Provides vital income for small-scale farmers.

Our Community Traded sesame oil is sourced from a co-operative of small-scale farmers in a remote area of Nicaragua. We've been buying this great, easily absorbed oil from them since 1993. With every product you buy, you help provide these farmers with vital income.
