- Stay calm. Going to bed angry or wound up makes it almost impossible to fall asleep. Try to resolve any disagreements before you go to bed, or agree to discuss things in the morning.
- Avoid alcohol. It affects the quality of sleep.
- Eat earlier. A large meal before bedtime makes it difficult to relax, as the body struggles to digest the food.
- No caffeine. Not before bed anyway, it’s a stimulant, the last thing you need if you want to drift off to sleep.
